Pakistani astronomers reportedly confirmed that it was really a space rock burning through Earth’s atmosphere. Such a phenomenon is often termed a ‘falling star’ because it really appears like a star falling from the sky. There is also a superstition that if a wish is made when seen as a falling star, it becomes a reality.

A meteorite is a celestial rock that faces a lot of pressure, heats up, and burns upon entering the Earth’s atmosphere. Very large meteors can also collide with Earth to snuff life out across the planet.

According to NASA, a meteorite that is visible is not actually a rock but hot air. Thousands of meteorites enter the Earth’s atmosphere every day and mostly fall in the sea and barren areas. As many meteorites fall during the day, they are not visible. At times during the fall of meteorites, there is also a loud sound.
