Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday discussed the contribution of science in the agricultural development of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, a vision to make India self reliant in all the key sectors. 

While addressing the 74th edition of his monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Modi said that “we must take effective steps towards the idea of ‘Lab to Land’ to enhance the quality and production of crops by introducing technology into agriculture.”

Modi, who always cites real life inspiration for his ideas also discussed about Ladakhi man Urgain Phuntsog, who is working with innovative scientific techniques to organically grow 20 different crops.

Apart from that PM Modi also paid tribute to scientist Dr CV Raman for his contribution to science on Nation Science Day.

“The National Science Day is dedicated to the discovery of the ‘Raman Effect’,” said Modi adding that the youth of the country should read about him to understand the history of Indian science.

PM Modi also talked about the necessity of saving water as he kicked off his radio programme by wishing the citizens of the country a happy traditional month of Magha.

He also pointed out several instances of hyperlocal attempts by people to save and use water resources efficiently.
