Tesla chief Elon Musk is considered to be outspoken on a range of issues. This includes coronavirus, the disease that has infected close to 4.5 million Americans and killed over 150,000 of them.

Despite the data, Musk has often downplayed the risk of the virus and has spoken against the lockdown placed to prevent the contagion from spreading. In May, he defied the local stay-at-home orders and opened his Tesla plant in California.

In a recent interview with CNBC, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates warned against the misinformation being spread over the COVID-19 pandemic. He hit out at Elon Musk over his remarks, suggesting that he should stick to the subjects he knows.

“Elon’s positioning is to maintain a high level of outrageous comments,” Gates told CNBC. “He’s not much involved in vaccines. He makes a great electric car. And his rockets work well. So he’s allowed to say these things. I hope that he doesn’t confuse areas he’s not involved in too much,” he said.

In a cheeky response, on Thursday, Musk tweeted, “The rumor that Bill Gates & I are lovers is completely untrue.”

“But sometimes when we touch…,” he added along with a video of the 1996 song with the same title.

Musk’s tweets garnered close to half a million likes and over 50,000 comments and retweets.

This isn’t the first time that Musk has taken a dig at the  Gates. Earlier this year, the latter purchased a his first Electric Vehicle — a Porche and not a Tesla

To this, Musk tweeted “My conversations with Gates have been underwhelming tbh (to be honest).”
