- Shaheen Afridi injured Bangladesh's bater Afif Hossain
- The pacer apologised for the unfortunate instance
Shaheen Shah Afridi, the leading left arm fast bowler of the Pakistani cricket team found himself in the middle of an unfortunate incidence during his side’s encounter against Bangladesh in the second T20 International which was played on Saturday, November 20 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
The fiery pacer bowled a delivery which inadvertently ended up injuring the left handed batter Afif Hossain Dhrubo. The incident occurred furing the second over of Shaheen Afridi’s spell. Mahmudullah’s side had opted to bat first after winning the toss and Afif stepped on the pith in the third over following Mohammad Wasim Jr.’s early dismissal of Bangladeshi opener Mohammad Naim.
Afif Hossain started his innings in fashion by hitting Afridi out of the park for a massive six. It was a poor delivery from the bowler who bowled a half-volley which was flicked over the leg side boundary without much effort from the batter.
On the very next ball Shaheen Afridi seemed to have lost his cool and composure. Afridi’s good length delivery was met with a defensive shot from the batter while showing the full face of the bat. Shaheen bent down to collect the delivery half way down the pitch and threw the ball ferociously towards the batter who was standing right in front of the three stumps.
The leather must have hurt the batter greatly as Afif lay on the ground. He looked to be in a lot of discomfort after the ball was thrown directly at his ankle. While the bowler looked to be aiming for the stumps it did not turn out well for the Bangladeshi batter. He looked uncomfortable during his time on the pitch.
Afif was dismissed by Shadab Khan for a score of 20 runs on 21 balls. Pakistan’s skipper Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi were quick to come and check on the batter’s well being. Afridi was quick to apologise for the incident.
