When you step into the thirties, a regular skin care routine is very important. Avoid washing the face several times with soap and water. Cream should not be applied and left on the skin at night. Avoid applying cream around the eyes at night and leave it on. It can lead to puffy eyes. A special under-eye cream should be applied and removed after ten minutes. If the skin is oily, avoid heavy creams and moisturisers. A matte moisturiser would help.

##Thirty is the age when women increase their use of make-up cosmetics, which can cause moisture loss. Without proper moisturising, it can lead to early appearance of wrinkles and lines. All make-up should be removed at night. For normal to dry skin, use a cleansing cream or gel, while for normal to oily skin, use a face wash and for combination skin a cleansing milk or lotion would suit.

Use a sunscreen or Sunblock lotion of SPF 25. For oily skin, use a sunscreen gel. If the skin is normal to dry, use a nourishing cream to massage lightly at night, after cleansing. Wipe off cream with moist cotton wool before bedtime.

Tips to improve skin texture at Thirty:

For oily skin: Allow Marigold (gainda) flowers to stand in warm water overnight. Add yogurt and sandalwood paste and mix together to make a smooth paste. Apply on the face, avoiding the lips and area around eyes. Wash it off after 20 minutes.

For normal to oily and combination skin: Mix two teaspoons oats with one teaspoon each ground almonds, rose water, honey and yogurt. Apply on the face, avoiding lips and area around eyes. Wash off after 20 minutes.

For normal to dry skin: Mix half a teaspoon honey with one teaspoon pure almond oil and two teaspoons dried milk powder. Mix into a paste and apply on the face. Remove after 20 minutes with plain water. Dried milk powder nourishes and softens the skin. Almond oil softens the skin and suits dry skins.

Facial Scrub for all skin types:  Once or twice a week. Make a powder of three teaspoons of green tea leaves and mix it with curd and honey in equal quantities to make a paste. Apply on face and leave on for a few minutes. Rub gently and wash off with water. Avoid scrubs on sensitive skin.
