The fourth day of India’s opening Test match against England ended at a score of 52 for the loss of one wicket at stumps, on Saturday, in favor of India, chasing a target of 209 set by the English team.

English captain Joe Root scored a solid 109 runs in the second innings which ended with 303 runs on the scoreboard. Joe Root scored his 21st hundred on Saturday, according to reports from news agency PTI.

Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah presented a five-wicket haul for India on the fourth day of the test match. The 27-year-old bowler gave off a total of 64 runs in 19 overs to seal a lauded performance.

India in their second innings consumed 14 overs before close of play with Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara unbeaten on 12 off 34 balls and 12 off 13 balls respectively.

Indian bowlers were taken to task by the England captain, whose mode of survival for the better part of the innings was swift counter-attack that fetched him as many as 14 boundaries before Bumrah got one to rear up ensuring Rishabh Pant had the easiest of catches.

In the time left during the penultimate hour, India scored 52 for one with Stuart Broad dismissing KL Rahul (26 off 38 balls) with a beauty. Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara were unbeaten on 12 each.

On the final day, if weather permits, India will need another 157 runs but in these conditions, it could prove to be more than a handful with James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Ollie Robinson making the ball talk. Sam Curran is also expected to play a decent supporting role, according to reports from news agency PTI.
