2nd T20I: Why Quinton de Kock is not playing for South Africa vs India
- South Africa face India in the second T20I in Cuttack
- Quinton de Kock and Tristian Stubbs have been benched for the game
- Heinrich Klaasen and Reeza Hendricks come in for the two
South Africa's regular wicket-keeper Quinton de Kock has been benched for the second T20I vs India at the Barabati Stadium, Cuttack on Sunday. Protea skipper Temba Bavuma won the toss and elected to bowl.
Annoucing his decision at the toss, Bavuma said that de Kock has a hand injury. He further added that youngster Tristian Stubbs misse out with a injury too. Heinrich Klaasen and Reeza Hendricks come in for the two.
Additional details of QDK's injury have not been revealed yet.
"We will have a bowl first. We don't know how the wicket will play. It was easier to bat second in the last game. You can chase anything with smaller boundaries. You need to stay in the fight as batters. We have two forced changes; QDK has a hand injury and Stubbs misses out, Klaasen and Hendricks come in," Bavuma said at the toss.
India, on the other hand, went in unchanged.
"We would have bowled first as well. The track is really nice. We would want to have a big score on this. There weren't many things we did wrong in the last game, just a bit of execution was off and we will do better today. We are playing the same team," India skipper Rishabh Pant said at the toss.
India (Playing XI): Ishan Kishan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant(w/c), Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik, Axar Patel, Harshal Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Avesh Khan
South Africa (Playing XI): Temba Bavuma(c), Reeza Hendricks, Rassie van der Dussen, David Miller, Heinrich Klaasen(w), Dwaine Pretorius, Wayne Parnell, Keshav Maharaj, Tabraiz Shamsi, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje
The Proteas chased down India's 212-run target in the first T20I with seven wickets in hand and five balls to spare. Rassie van der Dussen and David Miller orchestrated the team's highest run chase in 20-overs cricket.
