Both of her parents are athletes

PV Sindhu’s parents, PV Ramana and P Vijaya are both national-level volleyball
players. Her father received the Arjuna Award in 2000 for his
contribution to volleyball. 

PV Sindhu travelled 120 km to train everyday

PV Sindhu showed an early interest in
badminton and was able to pursue it, thanks to her parents’ support. Her father
would get up at 3am for more than 12 years to take her to Pullela
Gopichand’s academy, where she trained. The distance they travelled twice a day
was roughly 60 kilometres. He used to drive 60 kilometres twice a day from
Marredpally to Gachibowli to drop and pick her up from Gopichand’s Academy.

PV Sindhu she missed
her sister’s wedding for a tournament

Her sister got married while PV Sindhu was
playing the Syed Modi International India Grand Prix Gold in Lucknow. “Yeah I will be missing her wedding. I can’t help it now having
reached the final,” she had said, smiling. Then 17-year-old had to
miss her sister’s wedding for the tournament.

She once went without her phone
for three months

PV
Sindhu became the first Indian badminton player to earn a silver medal at the
2016 Olympics. Pullela Gopichand, her coach, took her phone away from her for
three months to assist her focus on her Olympic training. “Sindhu did not have her
phone during the last three months. The first thing is I would return her
phone,” an elated Gopichand had said after Sindhu’s silver winning feat in
the 2016 Rio Olympics.

 Sachin Tendulkar gifted her
a car after 2016 Rio Olympics

While PV Sindhu was having her
moment of winning the silver, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar made it even
more special and memorable by honouring her with a BMW for her mind boggling performance at
the Rio Olympics.

She loves meditation and swimming

She likes to recharge herself
with swimming, yoga and meditation while she is not training. “I meditate
to stay calm,” she told NDTV back in 2019. Her Instagram pictures often
show her in swimming pools.
