With his 62nd home run of the year on Tuesday, Aaron Judge eclipsed Roger Maris’ American League record, setting what some baseball fans regard to as the “clean” standard.

The 30-year-old Yankees slugger crushed a 1-1 slider from Texas right-hander Jess Tinoco into the first few seats in the rows in left centre in the first at-bat of the second game of New York’s day-night doubleheader.

Judge’s 61st home run, which he hit last Wednesday in Toronto, was his only other long ball in the previous 13 games. His 55th consecutive game played since August 5 was the second game of a doubleheader in Texas.

Family

Patty and Wayne Judge, who both worked as teachers in Linden, California, adopted Judge the day after his birth. He recalls, “I knew I didn’t look like them,” when his parents told him he was adopted when he was 10 or 11. Judge is biracial. John, his elder brother, was also adopted.

Wife

Judge is married to Samantha Bracksieck. Although Bracksieck frequently appears in the stands with Judge’s parents, supporting the American League MVP front-runner as he steps up to the plate and sharing post-game embraces, the couple has kept their relationship very discreet. However, Judge claims that his new wife is unfazed by the home run excitement.

After tying Maris’ long-standing record, Judge told the New York Post, “My wife has been with me through it all and she’s calm as a cucumber, that’s for sure.”

Bracksieck and Judge both attended Fresno State University in California to further their education after high school. The pair had been reportedly dating since at least 2014 and tied the knot in 2021.
