Tokyo Olympics, Women’s golf final: Highlights

10.16am: USA’s Nelly Korda wins the gold medal. Aditi Ashok misses on a podium finish by a stroke.

10.07am:

9.53am: India’s Aditi Ashok missed the putt for birdie on 17 and has now slipped to the 4th spot. With just one hole to go, Ashok will need something extraordinary to win a medal.

9.50am: Immediately after the restart, Mone Inami makes a birdie putt on 17 and is tied for the lead with Nelly Korda at 17-under.

9.47am: Play has resumed after a 49-minute delay.

9.30am: There are still no signs of resumption of play. India’s Aditi Ashok is in the tied 3rd spot. 

Overnight leader and world number one Nelly Korda continued to hold on to her position but her lead had dropped to just one stroke when the storm warning forced the players to leave the course.

8.58am: Play has been halted due to inclement weather.

8.40am: With just three holes to go, Aditi Ashok is in the fourth spot, one shot behind Inami Mone and Lydia Ko. She is two shots behind the current leader Nelly Korda.

8.23am: Nelly Korda shoots a par on the 14th hole. Aditi Ashok, Inami Mone and Lydia Ko land birdies to get closer to Korda, who is still in the lead.

8.11am: The conditions are getting challenging at the Kasumigaseki Country Club. The players are having to battle a strong breeze and grey skies.

8.05am: USA’s Nelly Korda shoots a birdie on hole 13 to increase her lead. She is currently 17-under in the round. Aditi Ashok, Iami Mone and Lydia Ko are tied second with 14-under.

7.50am: Japan’s Inami Mone has moved up to the 2nd spot with birdies on the 12th and 13th hole. Aditi Ashok meanwhile, has dropped to the 3rd spot.

7.18am: India’s Aditi Ashok narrowly misses the fairway on the 11th hole, which is a par 4. Nelly Korda in the meanwhile has zoomed up to 17-under, 3 shots clear of the golfers tied in the second spot. 

7.02am: On hole 9, Nelly Korda shoots a birdie after a bogey from Aditi Ashok. Ashok has slipped to the 3rd spot, two shots behind Korda.

6.58am: Aditi Ashok is tied in the first spot with USA’s Nelly Korda and New Zealand’s Lydia Ko after the eighth hole.
