Mumbai-born Ajaz Patel has made Test history by becoming the third bowler in the 144-year-old history of red-ball cricket history to take 10 wickets in a
single inning. He joined the likes of English spinner Jim Laker and Indian
legend Anil Kumble. Ajaz accomplished this feat against the Indian
cricket team in Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. Now, let us get into the details of
all the wickets taken.

Shubman Gill (44 off 71 balls)

Shubman Gill was the first to fall. Patel’s delivery was met by Gill,
who was half-forward and pushing at the ball with hard hands. However, it spun
away, caught the outside edge, and went into the waiting hands of Ross Taylor
in the first slip position.

Cheteshwar Pujara (0)

Pujara went second, when Patel’s spin hit the off-stump, leading to a
five-ball duck.

Virat Kohli (0)

Virat Kohli was the next to go, with a leg before wicket (LBW).
Patel’s streak continued, even as Kohli challenged the decision, only to walk away disappointed.

Shreyas Iyer (18 off 41)

Shreyas Iyer was the next batter to find himself in
Patel’s crosshairs. After a variation of pace, line, and length, Iyer simply
could not cope, leading to an easy catch for Blundell.

Wriddhiman Saha (27 off 62)

After a period of stability in the Indian batting order, Patel struck
again. This time Wriddhiman Saha was trapped in front of the wicket.

Ravichandran Ashwin (0)

Ravichandra
Ashwin came onto the field next, only to be shellshocked as Patel’s delivery
immediately clipped the off stump, sending him back to the locker room.

Mayank Agarwal (150 off 311)

Though Mayank Agarwal managed a gritty 150, Patel got his wicket too.
With a lovely delivery that nicked off the bat, and went to the keeper, Patel got
his seventh wicket as Blundell safely caught the ball.

Axar Patel (52 off 128)

Axar Patel was next to
go as the ball hit him squarely on the pad.

Jayant Yadav (12 off 31)

Next to the crease was Jayant Yadav who
tried a long-off that went straight into Rachin Ravindra’s hands.

Mohammed Siraj (4 off 3)

Finally, Mohammad Siraj came on and hit the ball high in the air.
Ravindra positioned himself comfortably under it, for a safe catch, cementing Ajaz
Patel’s place in the annals of Test cricket.
