Will Levis, Kentucky Wildcats quarterback, was not picked by NFL franchises in the top 10 picks at the 2023 Draft. A Reddit post had gone viral claiming the 23-year-old will be picked by Carolina Panthers as No 1.
Carolina went with Bryce Young as No 1. CJ Stroud joined the Houston Texans at No 2. Will Anderson Jr (Texans), Anthony Richardson (Indianapolis Colts), Devon Witherspoon (Seattle Seahawks) and Paris Johnson Jr (Arizona Cardinals) were the next to go.
Levis was pushed outside top 10.
A Reddit post, at r/sportsbook, ahead of the Draft had fans speculate that Will Levis was going to go at No 1.
Prior to Tuesday, the Kentucky QB was not placed at top three by any major pundit. However, after the post, his odds to go as No 1 overall shifted from 40-to-1 to 4-to-1. BetMGM placed his odds to be the No. 1 pick.
“Will Levis is officially on the slip-n-slide,” a Twitter user said.
“If Levis is falls to 15 that phone should be ringing… #Jets,” another one added.
“Fans are on pins and needles hoping their team doesn’t draft Levis. This is hilarious to watch,” a third one tweeted.
“Given the nature of the draft, we drastically cut the price based on this action and eventually came to a price where the bets stopped,” a DraftKings spokesperson told ESPN.
“We are still seeing some small bets trickle through at the current price, but the speculation is all the action was off the back of a Reddit post.”
