Argentina fans, ahead of the team’s quarterfinal match against Netherlands, celebrated Brazil’s loss vs Croatia. Neymar Jr and co were knocked out of FIFA World Cup 2022 4-2 on penalties. 

La Albiceleste fans at the Lusail Stadium were seen celebrating Brazil’s loss.

Brazil and Croatia drew 0-0 in regulation and 1-1 in extra time. Neymar, scored the opening goal of the match in the 106th minute.  Bruno Petkovic equalised in the 117th minute.

Rodrygo missed Brazil’s first spot kick and Marquinhos hit the post to send Croatia into the semi-finals. Croatia goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic saved the penalty first attempt by Rodrygo and Marquinhos later hit the post. Livakovic had already produced some key stops as the teams drew 0-0 in regulation and 1-1 in extra time.

Croatia goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic was their hero for the game. The 27-year-old produced some key stops throughout the play, frustrating the Brazilians. 

“We are raised as fighters, giving our best,” Livakovic said. ”And that’s the recipe for success.”

“We have a strong character and we do not give up,” Croatia coach Zlatko Dalic said. “We were prepared for everything today. We knew that as the game unfolded, our chances improved.”

Five of Croatia’s last six matches at World Cups have gone to extra time, including its penalty shootout win over Japan in the round of 16 in Qatar. The team has been successful in eight of its last 10 knockout matches at the tournament.

Croatia and Luka Modric’s win means there will be no Argentina vs Brazil matchup in FIFA World Cup 2022. Lionel Messi’s beautiful assist in the first half, gave his side the lead against Netherlands. Nabuel Molina scored his first goal for the country.
