Argentina’s captain Lionel Messi‘s family was at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium in Al-Rayyan, Qatar for the Round of 16 clashes against Australia in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. His wife Antonela Roccuzzo, mother Celia María Cuccittini, and the three sons: Thiago, Mateo, and Ciro were at the venue.

Messi and Roccuzzo, who he has known since he was five years old and who is the cousin of Messi’s childhood best friend and fellow football player Lucas Scaglia, have been dating since 2008. Following a year of secrecy, Messi first acknowledged their relationship in an interview in January 2009 before making it official a month later at a carnival in Sitges following the Barcelona-Espanyol derby.
Thiago, Mateo, and Ciro are the three sons of Messi and Roccuzzo. The oldest was Thiago, who was born in 2012. Next came Mateo, who was born in 2015, and Ciro, who was born in 2018.
Messi also shares a very close with his mother Celia, whose image is inked on his left shoulder.
The seven-time Balon d’Or winner also scored his side’s first goal in the match. Argentina leads 2-0 after 60 minutes of action.

Argentina topped Group C in this year’s competition. The team won two out of their three matches, suffering a shocking opening-game loss to Saudi Arabia. Messi opened the scoring for his team that time, putting a penalty inside the net as his side lost 2-1.
The team then faced fellow Latin American nation Mexico and defeated them comfortably, 2-0, with the striker scoring yet another goal in the game for their first win of the tournament.
In the final group fixture, the team collided with Robert Lewandowski’s Poland and won by a similar scoreline to become group toppers and qualify for the Round of 16.
