Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh played his maiden World Cup match for India on Sunday. The team took on Pakistan at the T20 World Cup in Melbourne. Singh had a dream start, picking up Pakistan skipper Babar Azam‘s wicket in his maiden ball. The 28-year-old Pakistani opener was out for a golden duck. Arshdeep Singh also sent Mohammad Rizwan back to the pavilion. Both Pakistan openers were dismissed and the team was 15/2 in no time.

Arshdeep Singh made his T20i debut vs England at The Rose Bowl on July 07, 2022. Coming into the World Cup game against Pakistan, he had 21 wickets at an economy rate of 8.04 against his name. The pacer also has 40 IPL wickets in 37 games.

He dropped a key Asif Ali catch during the Asia Cup 2022 earlier this year and was trolled. 

“Like any player, Arshdeep was a bit tense but then we told him that he has done all the hard work and does not have to worry. After he dropped the catch against Pakistan and almost defended seven runs in the last over, I had a talk with him and he told me that he could not sleep that night,” Arshdeep’s coach said after the Asia Cup game against Pakistan.
