Virat Kohli’s fiery 50 against Hong Kong on Wednesday had fans glued to screens. Kohli, who has not been in his best form and has been dealing with mental health issues, needed to find his feet and he did. Even in the match against Pakistan, Kohli’s 35 gave solidity to the Indian batting line-up. 

On Wednesday, Virat Kohli walked in to the crease after Rohit Sharma walked out for 21 scored in 13 deliveries. He initiate a solid partnership with KL Rahul who was playing careful and slow after getting out for a duck in the match against Pakistan. Rahul ended up scoring 36 runs off 39 deliveries. Kohli went on keeping the singles ticking but never missing an opportunity for the odd boundary.

And as the Indian internet’s often-favourite cricketer added runs to his kitty, fans on social media started celebrating him. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) tweeted: “A well made half-century for Virat Kohli. His 31st in T20Is.”

As Virat Kohli became the first cricketer to score a half-century in this edition of the Asia Cup, former India cricketer Irfan Pathan tweeted: “Virat Kohli looking goooooooddddd.” 

A Twitter user named Pranjal reminded the community that Virat Kohli now has the highest-ever batting average in T20 internationals. 

The International Cricket Council (ICC) tweeted: “A fine half-century for Virat Kohli.”

Virat Kohli’s half-century along with Suryakumar Yadav’s stormy knock of 68 runs in 26 balls ensured that India put up a strong total of 192 against Hong Kong. A video of Kohli went viral where he bows down to Suryakumar Yadav and asks spectators to cheer for him. 

India are playing Hong Kong in their second match of Asia Cup 2022. In the first match, India defeated Pakistan by five wickets.
