Avesh Khan, the Indian fast bowler, has been ruled out of the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 due to an illness. He is being replaced by Deepak Chahar. In India’s first Super 4 match against Pakistan, Khan had not been able to play due to a fever. Although it was earlier reported surfaced that he had recovered before the ongoing Sri Lanka match, Khan has now been ruled out of the entire tournament due to fever as well as sinus-related issues, reported PTI journalist Kushan Sarkar on Twitter.
Khan is the second Indian player to be ruled out of the competition after veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who was sidelined due to a knee injury. In the match against Pakistan, India had to bear the brunt of not having the experience of Jadeja in their bowling depth. Although Deepak Hooda was brought in to replace Jadeja, Indian captain Rohit Sharma did not give the latter a single over to bowl.
