Ravindra
Jadeja’s superb fielding effort sent Hong Kong skipper Nizakat Khan back home
just as he was settling down attempting to build a partnership with Babar
Hayat. Arshdeep Singh had had a really bad over giving away 16 runs having
bowled two no-balls and thereby giving two free hits. It was a free hit that
the Hong Kong skipper wanted to put away through point, but Ravindra Jadeja was
keeping guard.
As the ball
reached Jadeja, he took it with ease and threw it at the wickets, and a spot-on
direct hit ensured Khan had to take a long walk back to the dressing room. The
wicket came at a significant time as Hong Kong were just settling down well enough
to put up a challenge to India. India have put up a mammoth 192-run total
before Hong Kong and the rookie team needs to score 193.
Here’s a
glimpse of Ravindra Jadeja’s superb fielding effort drawn from Twitter.
Jadeja has
also done his bit with the ball in the second Asia Cup match. In his four overs, Jadeja has given away only 15 runs at an economy
rate of 3.75, the lowest so far in this match by any Indian bowler. He also took the all important wicket of Babar Hayat.
Jadeja’s wicket makes him the highest Indian wicket-taker in any Asia Cup ever. Ravindra Jadeja now has 23 wickets surpassing Irfan Pathan who had 22 wickets in the tournament.
India put up a massive total of 192 runs in 20 overs against Hong Kong on Wednesday. Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli’s 98-run partnership ensured India put up a challenging total. Suryakumar Yadav scored 68 runs of 26 balls while Virat Kohli scored 59 of 44 balls. Yadav hit four sixes in the last over.
Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul gave India a slow but solid start. Skipper Sharma, while attempting to jack up the pace, lost his wicket at 21 scored in 13 balls. Rahul, who had got out for a duck against Pakistan scored a slow 36 of 39 balls.
