According to a person with direct knowledge of the transaction, the Atlanta Hawks are dealing Kevin Huerter to the Sacramento Kings in exchange for Justin Holiday, Mo Harkless, and a future conditional draft selection, reported The Associated Press.

The person who spoke requested anonymity fromom The Associated Press on Friday because the deal had not been formally approved by the NBA or acknowledged by either club. The trade was initially reported by ESPN.

Huerter averaged 11.4 points in four seasons with the Hawks after being picked with the 19th pick in the 2018 draft. For a massive part of his career in Atlanta, he was a starter.

Aside from the money, Huerter has been a vital role player for the Hawks in his four seasons with the franchise. He’s been a reliable shooting option for Atlanta, whether starting or coming off the bench, and he’s a career 37.9 percent 3-point shooter. If they were going to make Huerter available, it’s odd they couldn’t acquire more value in terms of returning players for him.

But a trade seemed likely after the Hawks added guard Dejounte Murray in a trade with San Antonio this week, creating a backcourt pairing of young All-Stars — Murray and Trae Young.

Murray’s four-year, $64 million contract with the Spurs will expire in 2024, when he will become an unrestricted free agent. With incentives, his overall contract worth would be $70 million.

Holiday spent 26 games with the Hawks in the 2015-16 season and averaged 8.3 points for the Kings this past season. Harkless averaged 4.6 points for Sacramento last season.
