After starting 17 games as a rookie with the Las Vegas Raiders, Alex Leatherwood was waived the following training camp and claimed by the Chicago Bears. He started just four games with the Bears and is now at a career crossroads. If anyone can help the former first-round pick find his footing in the NFL, it could be Cleveland’s offensive line coach Bill Callahan, fans think.

After being released by the Chicago Bears, former first-round pick and offensive lineman for the Las Vegas Raiders, Alex Leatherwood, has signed with the Browns’ reserves.

The awful Raiders of the Mike Mayock/Jon Gruden era selected Leatherwood with the 17th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draught. Leatherwood was a member of the Alabama Crimson Tide team that won the national title in 2021. After a disastrous start to his career and the ouster of the administration that selected him, he only lasted one season.

The Bears later claimed him, but he only played there for one season and was let go on Tuesday as a result.

However, Leatherwood, who once won the Outland Award for being the finest trench player in college football, is only 24 years old and now has the chance to work with Bill Callahan, one of the best in the game, to reunite with former teammate Jedrick Wills.

With a youthful and talented roster, the Browns are hoping to make the playoffs. However, given that Leatherwood has only recently joined the practise squad, nothing will be simple.
