In news that has shocked the pro wrestling fans, World Wrestling Entertainment on Saturday announced that Former WWE and Universal champion Bray Wyatt has been released by the company.
Wyatt has spent twelve years with the company after first signing a developmental contract with WWE in 2009. He had been part of the main roster since 2010. He is the latest addition to the list of high-profile talents released by WWE since WrestleMania 37 in April. Wyatt joined Braun Strowman, Aleister Black, Mickie James and The IIconics, among others.
His last appearance in a WWE program was at WrestleMania 37 itself during a Firefly Fun House segment, where he competed as The Fiend and lost to Randy Orton because of a distraction by Alexa Bliss.
Given that there has been no clarity on why the superstar was released, there has been a lot of speculation around Wyatt’s absence and the eventual termination of the creative.
According to Ringside News, Wyatt’s absence from WWE programming was “medical.”
In addition to being a one-time WWE champion and two-time Universal champion, Wyatt held the Raw and SmackDown Tag Team championships.
Following the news, Alexa Bliss dropped a tweet to express how she is at a loss for words. Wyatt meant a lot to the WWE Universe and the locker room. One man who spent hundreds of hours with Wyatt is Braun Strowman, who was also recently released.
The Monster Among Men dropped a photo from his last program with Bray Wyatt. He also included a caption that alluded to linking back up with Wyatt outside of WWE. He wrote, “Brother I’m waiting.”
