The New England Patriots, quarterback Mac Jones and head coach Bill Belichick were visibly upset going 22-0 against the Cincinnati Bengals at the Gillette Stadium on Saturday. The offense looked lost and coach Matt Patricia frustrated.

However, the team soon turned the tables. Cincinnati were kept on hold throughout the second half as New England recover to 18 points. The Bengals won 22-18, their seventh victory in a row and a one that keeps them atop AFC North.

The Patriots started the second-half with a seven-yard gain. Mac Jones’s incomplete pass to Nelson Agholor was compensated by a defensive pass interference penalty that picked up 20 yards. 

Late in the quarter, New England’s defense took the ball 69 yards for a score. Jones then hit Bourne in the fourth quarter for a touchdown. The two-point conversion attempt was no good.

And the score was Patriots 12 : 22 Bengals. 

The game was one score away. Their top RB Rhamondre Stevenson fumbled the ball at the worst possible moment. He lost the ball with New England trailing by four and facing first-and-goal from the Cincinnati 5-yard line with 1:05 remaining.

“Was trying to make something happen. Probably doing more than what I was supposed to do. Probably should’ve gone down, but I was fighting for extra yards,” Stevenson said after the game.

Mac Jones finished 21 of 33 for 240 yards and two touchdowns. New England had 10 penalties for 82 yards and managed just 285 total yards. Nick Folk also missed two extra points on a day when the game-time temperature was 17 degrees and a wind chill of 4.
