Brett Rypien was called on to play for the Denver Broncos after their starting quarterback Russell Wilson took a hit on his head. The QB1 was taken off the field against the Kansas City Chiefs and is questionable to return. Rypien came in and threw a touchdown.

Rypien was born to Tim and Julie Rypien in Spokane, Washington. Rypien is eligible to hold dual citizenship because of his father’s Canadian citizenship.

Brett is also from a long line of the athletic bloodline. To start with, he is the nephew of former NFL quarterback Mark Rypien.

Mark was one of the first Canadian exports to make a name for himself in the NFL. During his peak career days, he earned two Pro Bowl selections, won two Super Bowls, a second-team All-Pro selection, and a Super Bowl MVP award. Presently, the Washington Commanders legend can be seen playing golf.

On April 10, 2022, Brett married his long-term girlfriend, Laura. The couple had been dating for six years after meeting at Boise State University. They married at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.

Laura is an interior designer. She works as an account manager for Made Renovation, a company based in San Diego, California. She also has a degree from Boise State in Public Relations, Advertising, and Applied Communications.

Other relatives

Brett is also the cousin of former LFL quarterback Angela Rypien, and a cousin once removed of the late Rick Rypien, who is an NHL enforcer. Rick spent his career with the Vancouver Canucks before taking his own life at 27 in August 2011.

On his mother’s side, Rypien is the nephew of Chris Tormey, an assistant to the Ottawa Redblacks of the CFL.
