Carolina Panthers’ no. 1 overall pick Bryce Young has been formally signed by the franchise. The team confirmed on Saturday that the quarterback had signed his rookie contract. Young will receive a $37.95 million per year, four-year contract with a $24.6 million signing bonus. According to Spotrac, he will receive $25.3 million in 2023 as part of a deal that also includes a fifth-year option for 2027.
On Saturday, Young will report to his first NFL training camp. He has many boxes of Bojangles and posted a picture of a scene on Twitter, showing that he has begun to integrate into Charlotte culture.

As part of his efforts to ingratiate himself with the Charlotte community, Young recently signed a partnership with Bojangles, the southern restaurant company that was founded in the Carolinas and is famous for its chicken.
Young is the last Panthers 2023 draft selection to sign a contract. The two-year starter from Alabama who won the Heisman Trophy solidified his place in program history. With 8,356 career throwing yards and 80 career passing touchdowns, he ranks second in Crimson Tide history.
Carolina traded up to get the top pick in this year’s draft because it wanted to select the quarterback of its choice. The Panthers believed Young would give them the best chance to win after numerous team meetings, visits, and exercises. They are optimistic that in the 21-year-old they have at last discovered their future quarterback.
