As the Milwaukee
Bucks
take on the Phoenix Suns in game six of the NBA Finals series on Tuesday, an
old prediction that has since gone on to become a rallying cry for the fans of
the franchise comes to the fore.

In the 2013
Playoffs, the Bucks had the odds stacked against them as they faced LeBron James
and the Miami Heat in the first round. The Heat were the top-seeded side with a
66-16 record while the Bucks were bottom-seeded with a 38-44 record.

Three days
before the first game of the series, Bucks guard Brandon Jennings was asked if
his side could script an upset. “I’m real confident. I’m sure everybody is
writing us off, but I see us winning the series in six,” he said.

The Bucks
were hammered 4-0 in the series, and did not enjoy any notable success over a tough few years since. In 2018, Jennings returned to Milwaukee for a season after hopping
around a few teams and was asked to comment on his statement from five years
ago.

“I mean,
Bucks in Six. What else am I supposed to say? ‘We’re going to lose and we’re
going to be swept?’…Bucks in Six, always. That’s for culture,” he said.

Since then,
the chant ‘Bucks in Six’ has been adopted by the fans, becoming a rallying cry at
the Fiserv Forum as the franchise ascended up the ranks into the powerhouse it
is today.

Now, the chant
is becoming more of a prophecy, as the Bucks downed the Atlanta Hawks in six
games to reach their first NBA finals since 1974. They can now win their first
NBA crown since 1971 in six games, as they take on the Phoenix Suns in game six
of the NBA Finals on Tuesday.
