Carolina Panthers outplayed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 7 in a surprising win for the team with the final score reading 21-3 at the Bank of America Stadium.

This was the worst defeat for Tom Brady since joining the Buccaneers in 2020. What was more surprising was the fact that the Panthers won despite not having most of their star players including the recently traded RB Christian McCaffrey and QB Baker Mayfield. The team also fired head coach Matt Rhule after the team’s Week 5 home loss at the hands of San Francisco 49ers.

McCaffrey was traded for multiple picks in the next two NFL Drafts to the 49ers on Thursday while Mayfield missed the team’s game due to an ankle injury he suffered in the loss to the 49ers. Backup QB Sam Darnold who is also recovering from an ankle injury missed out on his comeback game as new HC Steve Wilks announced that their QB Phillip Walker will take the field against the Bucs.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers are now on a two-game loosing streak, having also lost their last week’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The team’s overall record now stands at 3-4 this season and they have a difficult schedule for the next two weeks as they face the Baltimore Ravens and Los Angeles Rams in Week 8 and 9 respectively.

For the Carolina Panthers, this was a big win against their divisional rivals. The team traded WR Robbie Anderson last week after an argument with coach Wilks. Having either traded their star players or them being injured, this win will act as a big sigh of relief for the team that is fighting for the third spot in the NFC South with New Orleans Saints. The team has already defeated the Saints in Week 3 by a scoreline of 22-14.

Panthers face off against Atlanta Falcons in Week 8 and would be hoping to make it 3-0 against their division opponents.
