Manchester United is eager to sign Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro. The two clubs have already started talks regarding the same and the deal can be worth around £60 million. United developed an interest in the Brazilian midfielder as their deal with Ajax for Anthony is now looking unlikely to materialize.

While Carlo Ancelotti, the Los Blancos manager, greatly favours Casemiro, the 14-time Champions League winners have a number of options in the midfield. While Croatian skipper Luka Modric has extended his contract with the club till 2023, young members of the squad like Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Federico Valverde are also looking for more match time in the current season.

Eminent football journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that United will soon be sending in their official proposal and Casemiro’s medical test can happen by Friday, August 19. Besides the fees of £60 million, United are also offering add-on bonuses amounting to £10 million and a contract till 2026.

Casemiro has had a well-decorated career at Real Madrid where he won five Champions League titles, three Club World Cups, one Copa Del Rey, and three La Ligas. If the deal materializes, Casemiro will be joining his former Real Madrid teammates Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane at Man United.

Real Madrid next face Celta Vigo in their second La Liga match of the season. They defeated Almeria in their first league match with a scoreline of 2-1. If the medical test takes place on Friday, Casemiro will most likely not feature for Madrid in the match.

United, on the other hand, are set to face arch-rivals Liverpool on August 23. United fans have called for a walkout during said match as a protest against club owners, the Glazer family. Notably, in their two encounter with Liverpool in the previous season, United were humiliated by the Merseyside club with scorelines of 4-0 and 5-0.
