2021 was the year of
wins, losses, controversies, and big announcements. To keep up with a little
bit of everything, internet users spent their sweet time googling popular
celebrities and public figures. Earlier this December, Google India released
its 2021 list of the top searches of India, which included the IPL, World Cup,
CoWIN, and other pandemic related searches.
In the case of Indian
personalities, these were the most searched Indians of 2021-
Making India proud after
his big Olympic win, Chopra rose to massive fame, resulting in the highest
amount of google searches of the year. He also featured in an ad commercial
that went viral for his acting skills.
2. Aryan Khan
After years of being known
as actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son, 24-year-old Aryan Khan began to make headlines
this year after being on cruise ship that was later raided by NCB. Gone under
custody, the star child spent nearly 3 weeks in jail. Internet users and media
channels looked for every possible update on Aryan, resulting in a massive
surge of searches, memes, and news updates.
This Punjabi actor and
television personality became the third most rank Indian personality on Google
in 2021 after her beau, Sidharth Shukla passed away on September 2. The duo became
a fan favourite after sharing a rather sweet chemistry on Bigg Boss 13, a
reality tv show. Shehnaaz began trending soon after Sidharth’s death, and later
released a music video as a tribute for her deceased romantic partner.

4. Raj Kundra
UK-based businessman
and husband of actor Shilpa Shetty, Raj Kundra began trending after he was
arrested for an alleged porn racket. The 46-year-old was arrested for producing
pornographic content across platforms.
While rank 5 was
obtained by Tesla’s Elon Musk, Indian actor Vicky Kaushal became the sixth most
searched person on Google this year in India. The Sardar Udham star has made
quite a few headlines this year, with his 2021 film release, speculated dating
rumours with Katrina Kaif, and finally their anticipated wedding in December.
6. PV Sindhu
Badminton player PV
Sindhu was also one of the highest Google searches in India this year. The
sports icon gained prominence for her exemplary badminton skills that won her
various Olympic medals and laurels.
This Olympic athlete
and wrestler made many headlines this year after winning at the 2020 Tokyo
Olympics. Indians seemed to gain major interest in sportspersons during the
Olympics.
8. Sushil Kumar
Unlike other sportspersons,
Indian wrestler Sushil Kumar ended up becoming the 9th most Google searched
person in India for all the wrong reasons. In 2021, Sushil was charged for
murdering a fellow wrestler. He was then lodged into Delhi’s Tihar Jail for the
same.
Actor Varun Dhawan’s
long term romantic partner Natasha Dalal made headlines after the duo tied the
knot earlier this year. The two were high school sweethearts. Natasha kept a
low profile and so, many Indians rushed to Google to find out more about the
new bride.
