Collin Sexton, the starting guard for NBA team Cleveland Cavaliers has been sidelined indefinitely after a game against the New York Knicks on Sunday. Even though the Cavaliers won the game with a tally of 126-109, Sexton suffered a knee injury rendering him unable to play.

Sexton sustained the injury in the second quarter of Sunday’s clash against the Knicks. The Cavaliers have secured a landmark record of 7-4 this season.

While not shedding any light on the possibility of an injury after the injury, the management team of the Cavaliers said that Sexton has a meniscus tear in the knee, which will reportedly require extensive evaluation and testing. The team did not clear if and when Sexton will be returning to the court but said that the status will be updated.

A first round draft pick in 2018, Sexton is averaging 16 points and 3.3 rebounds in 28.7 minutes per game. The 22-year-old averaged 24.3 points in 60 games for Cleveland last season, according to reports from Associated Press.

Ricky Rubio could replace Sexton at the point guard position on the court and is likely to get more playing time for Cavaliers coach JB Bickerstaff.

Rubio, who is 31 years old, was lifted off the bench on Sunday against the Knicks and dominated from his position. He secured a career high score of 37 points and dropped eight 3-pointers, securing another career record.

Rubio’s previous career high was 34 with Utah against San Antonio in 2018.

“When the ball goes in it seems like you’re running the right plays,” Rubio said. “But it’s not about scoring. It’s about (taking) the right path, (going) the right (way) every time”, according to reports from Associated Press.

Cleveland has won four in a row to improve to 7-4. Evan Mobley added 26 points, Jarrett Allen had 18 and Darius Garland 16 in Sunday’s game.
