Cooper Kupp, wide receiver for the Los Angeles Rams, injured his right ankle in the fourth quarter of the team’s 27-17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 10 of the NFL 2022 season.

The 29-year-old avoided a major ankle injury but will miss some time, NFL Network and The Athletic reported. He will undergo an MRI on Monday to determine severity and a timeline, the report added.

The Super Bowl MVP landed awkwardly trying to catch a pass from John Wolford that was too high, coming down on his right leg with 14:18 remaining and the Rams trailing 17-10. The WR made only three catches for minus-1 yard and was visibly unhappy as he limped to the locker room.

Rams coach Sean McVay said, “I just know it didn’t look good, it didn’t sound good.”

Kupp stayed down on the sideline and was attended to by trainers before hopping to the bench without putting any weight on his leg. He was eventually able to walk back to the locker room with 12:44 to play and did not return.

The Los Angeles Rams have already had their bye week, which means if Cooper Kupp doesn’t get better soon, he will miss games. Best case scenarios: He returns within a week or two.

However, the average recovery time for  high ankle sprains reportedly ranges between 15 to 46 days.
