Cristiano Ronaldo has been desperately seeking a move away from Manchester United this transfer window in order to play in the UEFA Champions League this season. Till date, he has been rejected by clubs like Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and Atletico Madrid. However, with United set to kick off their 2022-23 season from today with a match against Brighton, the Portuguese goal machine looks like he’s finally ready to again deliver for the club that made him a star.

The 37-year-old has taken to Instagram where he shared a story with a picture of himself from behind, showing him in United’s iconic no. 7 jersey, with the words “READY” written on the side. Ronaldo, notably, did not travel with United during their preseason tour, and has only played 45 minutes against Rayo Vallecano before the season’s starter. It remains to be seen whether he is match-fit. Moreover, a tussle between Ronaldo and United’s new manager, Erik ten Hag, might be brewing up, with the forward leaving the stadium after being substituted at half-time in the match against Vallecano.

Manchester United striker Anthony Martial has been ruled out from the Brighton match due to an injury, and although Anthony Elanga and Alejandro Garnacho are available to play up top, it remains to be seen whether ten Hag chooses to go with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner. This match will also be ten Hag’s debut in the Premier League. Having already mesmerized fans with his high-octane football with Ajax, it remains to be seen whether the Dutchman brings the same intensity to a United side that is desperately looking for the sweet smell of success.
