Manchester United
manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was facing a lot of heat from the fans after his
decision to use Cristiano Ronaldo as a substitute in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with
Everton. His decision has now been criticised by none other than Sir Alex
Ferguson
himself.

Ronaldo did not feature in the game until the 57th minute. United were
leading 1-0 when he came on, only for Everton to score an equaliser through
Andros Townsend and the match ended in a frustrating draw for the Red Devils
who are going through a patchy form.

The Legendary United Manager, who managed both Solksjaer and Ronaldo
during his time at Old Trafford, was seen talking to former UFC fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov
about the matter.

Ferguson appears to suggest Ronaldo should have started the game against
the Toffees.

I also think that when they saw Ronaldo wasn’t playing,” Ferguson says
to the Russian who points out that the Portuguese came on in the second half. “Of
course but you should always start with your best player,” the Scott says after
which the conversation shifts to his health.

The Red Devils, who are 20-times English champions, have won one of
their last four matches. That was when Ronaldo scored a late winner in the
Champions League against Villarreal at Old Trafford last week. Fans have
constantly doubted Solskjaer’s continuing suitability as a successor to
Ferguson, who managed the club to 13 Premier League titles and won the
Champions League twice.

Mike Phelan, who was Ferguson’s assistant in his later years at Old Trafford,
has been handed a new three-year contract that will run until June 2024. The
length of his contract is the same as that of Solskjaer, who signed a similar
extension in July, an indication that their job is more than safe at the moment.
