Croatia will take on Morocco in the FIFA World Cup 2022’s third-place play-off on Saturday, December 17, in a repeat of the Group F fixture earlier in November.

For Morocco, who scripted history by becoming the first African side to enter the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup, the upcoming match in the Khalifa stadium could be a further opportunity to establish themselves as the ‘find of the tournament’. For the 2018 runners-up Croatia, it will be another chance to appear on the podium on back-to-back occasions.

The two sides earlier met in the Group F round robin encounter on November 23. After a goalless draw, the sides went unbeaten for the next four games before losing their semi-final encounters.
Both the teams have made news in the event as stubborn defenders and the third place play-off will only determine the tougher of the two. The two sides had earlier met in 1996 when the game ended 2-2 in real time before proceeding to penalties and also tying 2-2 there. The match was finally decided on sudden death as Croatia won 5-4.
