Former
South Africa pacer Dale Steyn lashed out at the country’s cricket board after it omitted Faf Du Plesis and Imran Tahir in a congratulatory post for winning
the Indian Premier League as part of the Chennai Super Kings. Cricket South Africa (CSA) extended their well wishes to Lungi Ngidi with no mention of the
veterans who were a part of the same team.

Dale Steyn
expressed his anger on Twitter and wrote, “CSA opening a can of worms for themselves with their Twitter
and Instagram. Whoever’s running those accounts needs a talking too.”

He went on
to say, “CSA now blocked the comments section. Here’s some advice. Do the right
thing. Delete the post and add all the men involved, save yourself the
embarrassment and ridicule.”

A fan
posted a screenshot of CSA’s deleted post which was commented on by both Faf
and Dale Steyn.

Du Plesis, a former South African skipper, played an integral part in Chennai Super
King’s IPL triumph by scoring 86 runs in 59 balls in the final. He missed out
on being the tournament’s highest run getter by 2 runs, finishing behind teammate Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Imran
Tahir is a veteran spinner who has brought several laurels to the team in his
long career.

Fans and former
cricketers alike were left surprised by Faf and Imran’s omission from the post.

The post
has since then been deleted and replaced with a post captioned, “Congratulations to all the South Africans who competed in and
claimed victory in the 2021 IPL Final with Chennai Super Kings. Notably Faf du
Plessis who put in a Man of the match performance”

This sparked fans to upload several memes
based on the account’s admin.

Du Plesis played his
100th IPL match on Friday and it certainly turned out to be a
memorable one. The fans are surely hoping for similar performances from CSK’s
star for years to come.
