Houston Texans‘ Dameon Pierce had a great first half against the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday Night of Week 9 of the 2022 NFL Season at the NRG Stadium in Houston. 

The running back recorded 13 carries for 88 yards for his team as the score at half-time was tied at 14-14.

In a play in the second quarter, the player dodged as many as four tackles from Eagles’ defenders to rush for 36 yards on his way to complete the first and 10 for the home side.

NFL Fans on Twitter were highly impressed by the rookie’s presence in the game so far and rooted for him to be the ‘Offensive Rookie of the Year.’

A user tweeted, ” Dameon Pierce is insane. Offensive Rookie of the Year. Easy.

Another one said, “Dameon Pierce is going to show why he is winning offensive rookie of the year tonight.”

A user tweeted on the play saying,” Dameon Pierce on his way to be NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.”

According to the betting website Sportsinteraction.com, Pierce currently has the second-best odds at the award behind another running back Kenneth Walker III of the Seattle Seahawks.

Pierce currently has the odds of +222 while Walker has +107. The third spot is held by the wide receiver of the New Orleans Saints, Chris Olave who is +363.

The 22-year player played for the Florida Gators football team during his college career from 2018 to 2021. He was drafted in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Texans and made his league debut in a 20-20 tie against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1. He had 11 carries for 33 rushing yards that game.

In the seven games played this season, Pierce has recorded three rushing touchdowns in 121 carries for 539 yards and also has a receiving touchdown under his name.
