With Gundogan’s second goal, City led 2-1.

“Dear me. De Gea. Again. No excuse the ball goes through a lot of players. It trickled along. Too similar to the West Ham goal. Poor goalkeeping,” a Twitter user said.

Man United legend Roy Keane, talking about De Gea, said “You expect your keeper to save that [Gundogan’s 2nd goal] and he didn’t and that’s why we’re seeing these [Man City] celebrations. For Man United, they need a world-class goalkeeper and he isn’t.”

The Spanish goalkeeper fell short of saving Gundogan’s second goal. The ball seemed to bounce towards his corner in slow motion. He was slow to get there. And the goal was scored.

Manager Erik Ten Hag defended David de Gea after the game.

“I wouldn’t mention unprofessional but as team we didn’t do the jobs we have to do and if we want to win trophies, details in big games make the difference. It’s hard to accept. I have only own plan that is to improve his team that I will fight for those ideas and tell the club what we have to do for that. I have to work to be better next season. It’s not about better players but working day by day to develop and progress the team,” the manager added.
