Sunrisers Hyderabad Captain David Warner on Thursday created history by becoming the first player to record 50 fifty-plus runs in the Indian Premier League.

In a match again Kings XI Punjab in Abu Dhabi on Thursday that SRH won by 69 runs, the team’s captain scored 52 runs, etching his name in history. 

This was also Warner’s nine consecutive 50 plus score and his 11th fifty against KXIP in the IPL. 

Apart from 50 fifty-plus, Warner has 46 fifties and four centuries in the IPL. He is followed by the Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli, who has scored 42 fifty-plus runs in the Indian Premier League.

On Thursday, the SRH’s Warner scored 52 runs off 40 balls while Jonny Bairstow scored 97 runs off 55 balls, setting a target of 202 for the KXIP to chase. This was Sunrisers Hyderbad’s third win in the season in six matches, as Warner’s team scored 100 runs without losing a wicket.

Bairstow completed his fifth IPL half-century on Thursday as his and Warner’s partnership brought up their fifth 100-run stand in the season.  

Rashid Khan was the most impressive SRH bowler as he returned with figures of 3/12 from his four overs.
