Deontay Wilder, the star boxer, was arrested on Tuesday in Los Angeles following a routine traffic stop, according to TMZ. The boxer spent the most part of the day locked behind bars, the same outlet reports.

Law enforcement officials told the outlet that the 37-year-old boxer was pulled over in Hollywood, Los Angeles at around 1:15 AM local time. Los Angeles Police Department officials claimed that the boxer’s Rolls Royce had its windows illegally tinted. The license plate of the car was also obstructed.

According to the police officers who stopped Wilder, the odor of burnt marijuana was coming from Wilder’s side of the car. It was the smell that prompted the officers to search the boxer’s car The search revealed the possession of marijuana as well as a 9mm firearm in the vehicle.

The 6-foot-7 was taken into custody, and according to TMZ, he was cooperative throughout the whole episode. The outlet further reports citing sources that Wilder was booked on charges of possession of a concealed weapon. According to jail records, Wilder was released on a bond at around 6:34 AM.

At around 9:30 AM on Tuesday, Wilder addressed the arrest by writing on Twitter: “I’d rather be safe than sorry. The End.”.
