New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr took a hit while playing against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

He was carted off the field after taking a brutal hit in the fourth quarter of the game. Jameis Winston came in to fill in for him. With the score against them at 33-21 in the fourth quarter, Derek Carr found Alvin Kamara with a pass while fending off a hard tackle from Lions linebacker Bruce Irvin.
After the play, he lay on the field distressed, and backup quarterback Jameis Winston replaced him. Carr had completed 17 of 22 passes with success, gaining 226 yards, one touchdown, and one interception at the time of his departure. He also had two carries that cost him one yard in addition to a turnover.

Derek Carr is a member of the New Orleans Saints. During his time in college, he was a well-known member of the Fresno State Bulldogs and was twice named to the first team of the Mountain West. The Oakland Raiders selected Carr in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft.
Carr led the Raiders to three postseason berths while starting quarterback for nine seasons, setting multiple franchise records. After being moved to the Las Vegas Raiders in 2020, he spent two seasons there before being acquired by the New Orleans Saints in a subsequent trade in 2023.
