The West Indies cricket team is touring Sri
Lanka for a two match Test series. Dhananjay de Silva was looking in fine form
and playing on 61 runs in 94 balls on Day 2 of the five day Test match.
However, that is when he lost his wicket in a bizarre manner on the next
delivery.

The batter went in a state of panic when he
played a defensive shot on the ball but it bounced back towards the wicket. In
order to prevent getting bowled out, de Silva ended was trying to hit the ball
over the wicket but he ended up knocking the bails off the stumps during the
strange ordeal.

The 30-year-old lost his wicket in the 95th
over of the innings on a length ball, outside off, bowled by Shannon Gabriel in
the opening stages of Day 2. De Silva’s defence on the back foot will haunt him
for a long time with memories of this horrible departure, especially when he
looked to be in good rhythm.

The Sri Lankans managed to post 386 runs on
the board in the first innings on Day 2. Captain Dimuth Karunaratne led the
side from the front and scored 147 runs in 300 balls while scoring 15 fours along
the way.

Dinesh Chandimal added 45 runs to Sri Lanka’s
tally in just 83 balls. As for the West Indies, they were saved time and again
by Roston Chase who was enjoying a brilliant spell which ended with 5 wickets
to his name.

Following Sri Lanka’s dismissal, the West
Indies managed to score 113 runs with the loss of 6 wickets at the end of 42
overs of their innings.

West Indies’ skipper Kraigg Braithwaite is
the one who led from the front by scoring 41 runs in 115 balls before getting
dismissed on Ramesh Medis’ delivery.

Kyle Mayers and Jason Holder are on the
pitch for the West Indies and will be looking to stabilise the innings.
