Shubman Gill’s poor run in IPL 2022 continued as the Gujarat Titans opener could manage only nine runs off six balls against the Punjab Kings at the DY Patil Stadium on Tuesday. The 22-year-old has scored 269 runs in 10 matches this season at an average of just above 26. His scores read – 31, 22, 7, 0, 13, 7, 96, 84, 0.

Against the Punjab Kings, Gill was run out on the first ball of the third over. He knocked down Sandeep Sharma’s full delivery to cover and ran for a quick single. Meanwhile, Rishi Dhawan executed a hit at the non-striker’s end with Gill far behind.

The batter was then seen chatting with Sharma, who he might have felt got in his way. The swing bowler did not move at all in his follow through and Gill had to run around him. However, because Sandeep Sharma did not move at all, it was the batter’s mistake to take the risky run.

Meanwhile, Kagiso Rabada took four wickets for 33 runs to restrict Gujarat Titans to a below-par 143. For Hardik Pandya and co, Sai Sudharsan was unbeaten at 65 off 50 balls. He hit hit five boundaries and a six. 

For Punjab, Sandeep Sharma (0/17), Arshdeep Singh (1/35), Rahul Chahar (0/11) and Livingstone also played their parts to perfection.
