The recent viral video on social of NBA star Ja Morant allegedly handling a gun has invited some serious criticism from the public. This is the second time since March that the 23-year-old Memphis Grizzlies player was spotted handling firearms.

A large number of people on social media have compared Morant to former New England Patriots tight end and convicted murderer Aaron Hernandez. Hernandez was found guilty of killing one person at the time of his suicide, however it is speculated that the former college standout also had a role in killing at least two other individuals. It is not confirmed whether Hernandez was responsible for the double murders of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado, who were killed in a drive-by shooting in Boston.

Morant has been punished by the Grizzlies with a suspension, with further action against him expected after his video went viral. One Twitter user wrote, ”JA Morant suffers from Aaron Hernandez syndrome…somebody who grew up with a good family in Suburbia and is making millions as a star athlete but is addicted to wanting to be a gangbanging thug.”

Meanwhile a second person said, “Self destructive behavior is a classic symptom of ADHD and borderline personality disorder. Ja Morant needs help, not ridicule and I sincerely hope he is afforded the opportunity to get the help he so desperately needs before he ends up like Aaron Hernandez.”

There were some who tried to dismiss comparisons, saying, “Seeing some posts comparing ja morant to aaron hernandez..nah lol. ja is trying to look cool. thinks he is in a music video. aaron hernandez had swiss cheese for a brain and murdered people.”
