The Golden State Warriors did not just win the NBA championship title on Thursday but also the bragging rights that come along with it. Draymond Green has been having a blast on social media since he lifted the trophy after beating Boston Celtics at the TD Arena.

The Boston Celtics were in a tough spot. The finals were at a 3-2 tally, which meant that Golden State Warriors had a better chance to win the title. Celtics, on the other hand, would have to force Game 7 to live to fight another day.

Game 7 would be on Sunday night at Chase Center in San Francisco. Draymond Green used this opportunity to mock the Eastern Conference champions.

“Getting ready for Game 7 tonight”, Green wrote in a social media post. “Happy Father’s Day”, he added. If the non-existent Game 7 would be a reality, it would have been the only chance Celtics would have had to win the finals.

Draymond Green had a substantial contribution to Thursday’s win. He added 12 points for the Golden State Warriors, in addition to eight assists and 12 rebounds.

The Warriors had the NBA’s worst record in 2019-20 in large part because of roster turnover — Kevin Durant, who was out that whole season while recovering from Achilles surgery, had just left for Brooklyn — and injuries. Thompson did not play that season because of a knee injury suffered in the final game of the 2019 finals. Steph Curry played in just five games. It was the reset year.

The bounceback was supposed to be last season, but Klay Thompson had to sit out again, this time because of an Achilles tear of his own. The Warriors lost in the play-in tournament. But seeds were planted for something great; how great, even Golden State wasn’t sure, but Stephen Curry insisted something was brewing.
