Edwin van der Sar, Manchester United legend, was rushed to the hospital on Friday in Croatia after suffering a brain hemorrhage.
The 53-year-old goalkeeper was on vacation in the country when he reportedly collapsed and had to be airlifted to a hospital. He is currently in an intensive care unit and the first 24 hours is considered crucial.
Ajax, his former football club released the following statement after learning about the news of his health. “On Friday, Edwin van der Sar has had a bleeding around his brain. He’s currently in hospital in the intensive care unit and is in a stable condition,” the club wrote. “Once there is more concrete information, an update will follow. Everyone at Ajax wishes Edwin a speedy recovery. We’re thinking of you.”
