A review of track limits violations at the F1 Austrian Grand Prix has resulted in additional penalties for eight drivers, including Lewis Hamilton.
Following the stewards’ approval of Aston Martin’s protest of the Austrian Grand Prix outcome, the penalties were declared. The Mercedes driver already had to serve a five-second time penalty during the race, but now the Briton is facing a serious setback that might affect not just his position on the starting line but also that of Carlos Sainz and Pierre Gasly.

Hamilton, who had placed seventh, now finds himself in eighth place, trailing fellow Mercedes teammate George Russell. Lando Norris and Fernando Alonso will move up to fourth and fifth place, respectively, as a result of Carlos Sainz’s additional 10-second time penalty, while the Ferrari driver will have to settle for sixth.
The same thing happened to Pierre Gasly, Alex Albon, and Logan Sargeant, with the former dropping to P10 behind Lance Stroll. Aston Martin will be happy that they pursued the protest because both of their drivers, Alonso and Stroll, were promoted as a result of the FIA’s following sanctions.

Article 33.3 of the FIA regulations, which deals with exceeding track limitations, was the subject of all the fines. This rule had become a hot topic throughout the weekend when multiple drivers broke it over the course of three days.
Estaban Ocon was given the harshest punishment, a 30-second timeout, whereas Yuki Tsunoda just faced a five-second timeout and Nyck de Vries was given a 15-second timeout.
