Germany’s Antonio Rudiger was accused of biting French midfielder Paul Pogba during a Euro 2020 match on Tuesday. Pogba, after the match, downplayed the incident saying that ‘he was not crying for a foul’.  “This was nothing big. I think you saw the TV pictures, this is all over, this belongs to the past, I’m not crying for yellow or red cards for such actions. He nibbled, I think, a little bit on me,” Pogba said.

A video captured Rudiger biting Pogba during a throw-in. However, the incident was not captured by VAR (Video assistant referee) and the German did not face any on-the-spot consequences.

However, the internet drew comparisons between Rudiger and Luis Suarez. The Uruguayan has been involved in three biting incidents in the past.

France won the match in the Group F encounter 1-0 owing to a 20th-minute own goal by Germany’s Mats Hummels.
