IPL 2022 has been missing West Indies batting legend Chris Gayle. The evergreen T20 star has been missing from the scene since he has pulled out of the IPL.

The star cricketer said he is eyeing a comeback next season to win the IPL for either Royal Challengers Bangalore or Punjab Kings.

Gayle, meanwhile, said he did not register his name for the IPL 2022 auction as he felt he did get due respect.

Last season he played for Punjab Kings, who signed him in 2018.

In his illustrious IPL career, Gayle played for Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders.

Now, after a break from the IPL, the left-handed cricketer is contemplating a comeback next season.

“Next year I’m coming back, they need me! I have represented three teams in the IPL, Kolkata, RCB and Punjab. Between RCB and Punjab, I would love to get a title with one of those teams.” Gayle told the Mirror.

Asked why he skipped IPL 2022, Gayle said he felt he was not treated properly in IPL.

“For the last couple of years, the way the IPL went about, I felt like I wasn’t treated properly,” Gayle was quoted as saying by The Mirror.

“So I thought ‘okay, you (Gayle) didn’t get the respect you deserved after you did so much for the sport and IPL.’ So I said ‘okay, that’s it, I’m not going to bother to enter the draft,’ so I left it as it is. There is always going to be life after cricket so I’m just trying to adapt to normality.”

Gayle holds the records for most sixes in the IPL and the highest individual score of 175 against now defunct Rising Pune Super Giants.

Gayle spent the prime of his career at RCB and forged many entertaining partnership with Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. However, despite being a run machine Gayle could never win the IPL.
