Just seconds after Royal Challengers Bangalore player Rajat Patidar smashed a magnificent century in 49 deliveries in the IPL eliminator against Lucknow Super Giants, social media users burst into applause, praising one of the finest knocks in this year’s IPL season.

Patidar finished with 112 runs off 54 balls, guiding RCB to 207 runs in the first innings.

Here is how social media reacted to Patidar’s mighty smash-

Sharing an image of Rajat Patidar and Dinesh Karthik, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar wrote on Twitter: “Serious hitting by Rajat Patidar and nicely supported by @DineshKarthik.

It’s a great total but given how the surface is playing and the fast outfield, I feel it’ll be a close game.
Well played by @rcbtweets in the first half!”

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag wrote, “Rajat Patidar.. What an innings.. Party Daar.”

Delhi Capitals player Amit Mishra lauded Patidar, who came in “as a replacement for Karnataka Batsman Luvnith Sisodia”, for giving RCB a lot more than a chance to win the eliminator through his performance.

“Take a bow Rajat Patidar you made all of us proud today,” Mishra said.

On the other hand, former cricketer Irfan Pathan seemed far more excited than others, and decided to laud the 28-year-old’s century through two Twitter posts.

“Innings of his life for RCB,” he wrote, asking if he can tweet twice about the inning.

Here are a few more reactions-

Indore-born Rajat Patidar failed to be sold at the IPL 2022 mega-auction earlier this year. In Wednesday’s match, the cricketer came in as a replacement for Luvnith Sisodia and left an unforgettable mark with his century.

Patidar hit a dozen boundaries during his inning, with the sounds of his bat reverberating as “pure music” across the stadium, as Harsha Bhogale said during his commentary.
