Jungkook, the youngest member of BTS, will take part in the FIFA World Cup 2022 opening ceremony in Qatar at the Al-Bayt Stadium on November 20. The news was released on Saturday by BigHit’s official account, which also revealed that Jungkook will contribute to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Soundtrack.

“Proud to announce that Jung Kook is part of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Soundtrack & will perform at the World Cup opening ceremony. Stay tuned!” the official BTS handle tweeted.

At a time when the band is considering solo careers and military duty, the appearance will once again place one of the largest K-pop stars on a global stage.

Now that the band is on hiatus following the announcement of Jin’s military enlistment, many of BTS’ band members are working on solo projects. In addition to Jin’s solo tune with Coldplay, The Astronaut, and J-Hope’s solo album Jack in the Box, RM recently revealed Indigo, his debut solo album.

Charlie Puth and Jungkook worked together on the song Left and Right a few months ago. 

The forthcoming ceremony is also anticipated to feature performances from Shakira, Dua Lipa, J Balvin, Kizz Daniel, Calvin Harris, Nora Fatehi, and Trinidad Cardona, among others.

Earlier this year, FIFA declared the World Cup official soundtrack.

It includes three major songs that will rule the airwaves during the biggest soccer event in the world – Hayya Hayya (Better Together), Arhbo, and Light the Sky.

The FIFA World Cup soundtracks have developed a unique significance in popular culture throughout the years. Some of the FIFA anthems are still well-known worldwide, including We Are the Champions by Queen, Waka Waka by Shakira, and We Are One (Ole Ola) by Pitbull.
