Things are not looking so good for the four-time FIFA World Cup champions Germany after they drew their match against Spain.

As things stand in Group E, Spain are now with four points, Japan and Costa Rica are currently with three points each, while Germany are with one point. The maximum number of points they can now take home is four.

Now that the match is drawn, the Germans will still be at the bottom of the group. Then they will qualify only if they manage to beat Costa Rica in their last match of the group stage and Spain end up beating Japan. If Spain draw against Japan and Germany win against Costa Rica, they can qualify if their goal difference is better than the Asian footballing powerhouse.

It will be a huge blow to the Germans if they are sent home from the group stages, a nation that considers their football team an all-encompassing machine. Two back-to-back knockouts from the World Cup group stage are nothing short of humiliating for the country of Franz Beckenbauer and Gerd Müller.

Germany will need to reconsider their team selection process and might even end up firing their manager, Hansi Flick, who has won possibly everything in club football with Bayern Munich.

If they fail to qualify, this will be a recap of the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia, where the Die Mannschaft were also sent home from the group stage itself. Their group included Sweden, Mexico, and South Korea, all weaker teams on paper when compared to the Germans. However, they ended up getting beaten by both Mexico and South Korea, and despite earning three points from their win against the Swedes, the Germans failed to qualify.
